Student Transportation Update

OUSD is working on plans to provide transportation for students from the Glenview neighborhood to the school’s temporary home at the Santa Fe Elementary campus for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years. Busing students should help minimize traffic impacts on both neighborhoods, and provide an environmental alternative to families driving students across town each day. Some aspects of the plan that are in place include:

  • Edna Brewer Middle School will be the location for bus pick up and drop off.
  • OUSD will provide student supervision while students are being dropped off and picked up at the bus stop.
  • A traffic engineer has been hired to work with OUSD and the City of Oakland to ensure safe routes for students and minimal traffic disruption for the neighborhood.

Other details of the plans are still being finalized. A proposed pick up and drop off schedule and additional transportation information can be found here

UPDATE: A meeting for neighbors and community members to learn more and discuss plans has been scheduled for Monday, May 16th (6:30 – 8:00 pm) in the Edna Brewer Panther Playhouse. Please email to rsvp for childcare and translation. For more details, please read this letter to Edna Brewer neighbors.
